  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup cooked Italian sausage (crumbled)
  • 1 medium bell pepper (diced, preferably orange or red)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet, cook the crumbled sausage until browned. Cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, mix the sausage with ricotta, mozzarella, diced bell pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough into circles (6 inches in diameter).
  5. Spoon filling onto half of each circle, fold over, and seal edges using a fork.
  6. Cut jack-o'-lantern faces into the top of each calzone for decoration.
  7. Brush with beaten egg for a golden finish and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
