  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh button or cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  2. Sauté the mushrooms and onion in a skillet over medium heat until softened (about 5-7 minutes). Let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed mushrooms and onion, breadcrumbs, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.
  4. Fold in half of the grated Swiss cheese into the mixture.
  5. Shape the mixture into a loaf in the prepared dish. Spread ketchup on top and sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 60-70 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
